After a quick flight from Kajuraho come to Varanasi in 45 minutes (by bus was 15 hours.) It was waiting for a taxi from the hotel (bread), we had to wait a while to arrive on another flight with more people going to the hotel and departed. Varanasi is filthy, with sooooo many people, cows and rickshaws. Luckily our hotel was next to the river, because that area is more passable than the city.
As many know the Ganges is the equivalent of Mecca or the Vatican, but mixed with the watery Zanjon (in his heyday). According to the Hindu religion if you clean it here Banha karma, and if you die in Varanasi skips of the formalities of reincarnation and it goes to 'heaven'. That is why the banks of the Ganges can see people doing everything, washing clothes, praying, washing themselves, eating, everything.
The riverside is the ghats, which are 'beach' but with steps that reach the water and people go there all day. Each ghat has its charms.
Given the geographical location of Varanasi and the weather we were forced to hyper up early to see the city at its best, or at sunrise (5:30 am). One day we went to walk the ghats paw and you can see many scenes national geographic type, in fact worldwide tourist is taking pictures of this kind. It is full of gurus who are put on a mini pallet to teach, while students are sitting on the floor doing some balls with "mud" and flower seemed technician classes manual.
In this walk we went to see the 2 special cremation ghats, it is assumed that all Hindus were cremated and the ashes thrown away after the river, except as pregnant women, Ninh under 12, lepers, holy men, people with smallpox (?) and bitten by snakes, all of them tied to a stone and thrown directly into the river because they are purified PAF. No one could take pictures but it was very impressive, there were 3 fires with dead wrapped in gold genre. Obviously we were interested to see how burning the rum gone but not much sticks and gender. Until caches that one of the fires went out a stick-shaped leg, the end was a human leg ... The manager the fire will hold a utensil and bend the leg up (against the knee joint) and who turns a piece of meat on the grill. At that time all exclaimed Galucho DOOUOOOUOHHH! (Because they send tourists to look down from a balcony) ... Heavy.
also did a boat trip down the river at dawn and it was really spectacular at that time also there are many people praying and putting on the river, include the Ganges passes for about 5 major cities and millions of people, sewers obviously end up in the sacred river, as we will throw the ashes and in some cases complete dead (in fact we saw a human torso being pecked at by crows on one side), it seems that religion is much stronger than the sense of survival because there were people taking water from the river ... Guacala.
Every afternoon we went to another ghat where ceremonies were doing to Mother Ganga, the goddess of river. It was very nice and finally threw a flower offerings to the river (bids). We bought some bids and threw into the river .... and that was the time of the fatal error if we believed that we were already sick of the typical diarrhea, did not know the chicha with which we were treating. By letting bids on the river turn to wear the same and 4 trillion bacterial strains must have been in our body.
The next day started with a fever and bad batting and the only evil Meche batting. We travel to Delhi by plane and arrived at night. The fever had climbed to almost 40 and I rave a lot on the plane. But now thanks to my best friend, Cifloxin (antibiotic) the next day was better. Leh decided not to go because we were still fragile and also seems not the best time (-5 degrees celcius). We stayed in Delhi
4 days recovering in a hotel for $ 100 (that was worth not unique), ate western food (pizza) and only one day we left to go. We went to Red Fort and see some temples and mosques.
Delhi is not really very nice and people all the time is young, we did not like much. The only noteworthy is the meter that steak. Very clean and tidy. Incredible.
Now we go to Rajasthan by air to Udaipur.
Advancement to the next chapter: Meche now Cifloxin befriends ... the rest of the photos we put them later. But the flicker are all in Varanasi and Delhi and you can see a Senhor drinking water of the Ganges.
